For over forty years tens of thousands of girls and young women have been abused, raped and some brutally murdered across Britain by grooming gangs. It is a scandal that should shame the nation. And yet it is an issue that gets brushed aside by authorities, clouded out in the media by disputes over racist reporting, and largely ignored by politicians. All at the cost of safety and justice for those young girls.
Prime Minister Rishi Sunak last week announced policy to, finally, attempt to deal with this horrific issue.
To discuss the policy and the deeper story of the grooming gangs is journalist and documentary filmmaker Charlie Peters. Charlie’s film ‘Grooming Gangs: Britain's Shame’ was released earlier this year on GB News and Youtube:
Indeed some of the governments new policies were campaigned for by Charlie himself. As the story comes up again so does the same old contentions surrounding the issue. Charlie has been hitting back against those he deems are spreading lies on the topic. We take a look at the new policy as well as the history of the scandal; the failure of local authorities; the failure of the media; the failure of politicians. And of course the thorny issue of political correctness at the root of those failures.
