Michael Shellenberger, Twitter Files journalist and founder of Public, is in London to discuss the international “Censorship Industrial Complex”. He explains to me how the complex web of government, big tech, intelligence and media collude to suppress speech in America and beyond.
Since we last spoke in November 2022, Michael has been on quite the journey. He talks me through his experience at Twitter HQ with Elon Musk, his farcical Congressional hearing, and his reporting since.
Only last week he reported evidence of what many of us suspected, but were censored from saying - that COVID-19 was indeed a lab leak. (Not to mention that those scientist were engaged in “gain-of-function” research.)
But we go deeper into the long history of government censorship. In our two countries Free Speech is a foundational philosophy, and a protected right. And yet our governments have held that right in total disregard.
