It's become a Biden family tradition for the benighted and bedrugged president's son to gift his family incurable headaches. Hunter Biden has been indicted on nine tax charges in California. These include three felonies and six misdemeanor offenses and could see Biden face a 17-year prison sentence if convicted. That's not to mention the millions he already owes in unpaid taxes.
Who could forget the 2020 election-year scandal of Hunter's laptop emerging from a Delaware repair shop with endless evidence that his father had abused his position as vice-president to secure Hunter lucrative business deals with Ukrainian energy firm Burisma and CCP-linked partners in China?
(And if you still don't believe the scandal, here are the 128 thousand emails for you to peruse yourself: https://bidenlaptopemails.com. I'll spare you a link to the porn Hunter made and uploaded online.)
Damning as the story might be, not to mention its illegal suppression by the FBI and social media companies, what is just as curious is the way the story is rejected by progressives.
Let me tell you a little story…
Last Christmas, Ariel Pink and I made a Christmas song, 'Rudolph's Laptop'. It didn't quite make it into the charts, possibly because we released it on Christmas Day. Possibly because it's extremely niche. Possibly cos it is very silly. (Music historians will no doubt be debating this for years to come.) We did however have a pretty tight AI music video made by King Con 2k11…
Rather predictably, the music press began their ill-spirited Christmas pile-on. Consequence of Sound suggested Hunter Biden's laptop story was not true. This was after even the New York Times had finally confirmed its authenticity. Stereogum carelessly tossed out defamatory digs like "far-right." Billboard libellously wrote Ariel had attended the Jan 6 Capitol Hill storming.
For an industry that believes itself to be anti-establishment, it is curious how the music press chose to attack a song and its composers critical of the establishment with lies and slander. But it is not surprising. The world of music leans politically left - artists are typically high in the Big Five personality traits that correlate with progressivism. So, if one considers that music journalism is littered with resentful failed musicians and artists, it is not hard to see how they sink to the dark corners of the extreme left. Sons of Cain, angry at God, they reach out and tear down those who achieved what they never could.
There is another Christmas tradition which goes dick in hand with Hunter's troublemaking. Progressives ignore or spin the story away from Hunter. Just as Consequence did last year, SNL did this weekend.
Colin Jost's 'Weekend Update' opening gag turned the latest Hunter indictment into a joke about Trump. "They're only catching him now? Man, this is super embarrassing for whoever was president between 2016 and 2020". It is hard to believe, but this wasn't the lowest the long-running live sketch show stooped on Saturday. Their satirical angle on the failure of the college presidents of Harvard, MIT, and the University of Pennsylvania to condemn the incitement of genocide of Jews on campuses was to attack Rep. Elise Stefanik, R-N.Y., rather than the racists she took to task.
It is sad to see these once-great artistic institutions falling. And with several 2024 elections beckoning, I suspect things will only get worse.
Christmas is about tradition. Mince pies, crackers, family and midnight mass. Or if you're Hunter - home videos, crooked family deals and progressive apologists.
Tragic as it all continues to be, I nonetheless wish you all a very happy Christmas.

P.S. Here is my Marshall Matters interview with Ariel from August 2022.
I love how Hunter doesn’t know how to properly wear earplugs. See the photo; they are half hanging out.
Nobody cares about Hunter Biden’s penis. There are much better reasons to hate Brandon than the fact that he got revenge porn of his son taken down.
And please show some respect: it wouldn’t be US politics if the children of one senile President after another weren’t running rampant committing felonies. This sort of lawlessness is an important part of American cultural patrimony at this point.
Anyway, I thought you Brits particularly approved of public figures getting caught doing party drugs and having weird, kinky sex. You’re betraying *your own* heritage at the same time now!
